COSTUME INFORMATION
Undergarments: Specific undergarments are necessary to provide a non-bulky sweat layer under the costumes and microphone belts, and because actors will be getting into their costumes in a shared dressing room. All performers should come dressed in these underlayers for tech rehearsals and shows. Bottoms should be slim fitting shorts such as swim jammers, bike shorts, or dance shorts (see examples here). Basketball shorts, cargo shorts, or lumpy elastic waist shorts will not work, nor will shorts that are long. Tops must be a slim fitting tank top or t-shirt (v-neck is best).
Shoes: Cast members need a neutral comfortable pair of shoes in black, grey, brown, or even white in a ballet style flat or Mary Jane type shoe. Nothing with bright colors or huge logos and especially not anything that lights up or makes sound. Ballet slippers and jazz shoes are always great. Absolutely no sandals, flip-flops, slides, Crocs, or high heels, for safety purposes. If your socks show cast members should wear a neutral color sock or tights; white, black, or navy works well. See examples of shoes and more specific character needs here.
Hair: Actors should come to tech rehearsals and shows with hair combed and styled as indicated below. If it says the character might be wigged and the student has long hair, then come to tech and shows with hair in 2-4 braids (thin hair ties are best) to put up under the wig.
Makeup: Actors should come to tech and shows with make-up already done. A little bit is all that’s needed – blush on the cheeks, simple brown eye liner, mascara (if comfortable) and mild lip color (or clear lip balm). Never share eye make-up or lip stick except with a sibling. Please do not wear foundation past the chin or on the neck – it stains the shirt collars. Do NOT do any specialty make-up or hair without talking to the costumer.
