How do our students participate in the arts during the normal school day?Drama
All students receive instruction in drama classes throughout the year and perform in a grade-level production. In addition, students in grades 3-5 have the opportunity to participate in the Early Morning Drama program, which produces a play in the fall and a musical in the spring. Music All K-5 students participate in music classes throughout the year. Students learn to read music, sing with healthy techniques, and performing songs from many cultures. Students in 3-5 may also elect to participate in before or after-school elective classes, which include band, orchestra, and/or choir and performances multiple times a year. Visual Arts All students participate in art at Trace. Young artists explore a variety of materials and art-making processes from drawing and painting to printmaking and weaving. Lessons in the art room are regularly integrated with classroom curriculum concepts. During preparation for grade-level performances, art room experiences are generally tied to the theatrical/musical goals of the upcoming production. |
