Grade Level Performances
At Trace, everyone participates in the Grade Level Performances! Whether singing a song, telling a joke, or pretending to be a dinosaur, students are onstage with their entire class. Grade Level Performances are rehearsed during normal school hours and culminate with performances at the end of the school year.
Early Morning Drama
In addition to Grade Level Performances, students can signup for a chance to a part of a school-wide production! With rehearsals taking place before school starts (hence the name!), participating students become part of either the fall or spring production, with performances at the end of each semester.
5th Grade Film
5th graders rule! Or at least they try! Throughout the year, 5th graders participate in developing the story, production, and filming of their very own original movie. Each film is unique to the character of that year’s 5th grade students. Looking for past performances? Click the link below!
Meet the Instructor
Mike Boston
program director, Drama EducatorMr. Boston fearlessly leads our drama program at Trace and we are so grateful to have him! He has over 30 years teaching experience. His directing credits include more than 250 staged productions for schools and communities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area including: Our Town, MacBeth, Othello, Robin Hood, The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Mulan, Aladdin, Seussical, A Christmas Carol, School House Rock, The Outsiders, Get Smart, Funny Girl, Pippin, Cinderella, The Witches, The Music Man, Oklahoma, Footloose, Peter Pan, Matilda, Frankenstein, All Shook Up, Damn Yankees, Annie Get Your Gun, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Mamma Mia, Mean Girl, Puffs, The Play That Goes Wrong to name a few, as well as countless original plays and musicals.
Mr. Boston received his BA in English with a minor in Theatre Arts from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1989. He also holds a Stage Production Vocational Credential, a Single Subject in English Credential and CLAD Credential from the State of California.
