What You’ll Learn

Students will dive into the world of musical expression, exploring melodies, rhythm, and harmony as they explore new songs and techniques. With guidance from their band director, they’ll discover how practice and play come together to spark their own creative voice.

A donation of $75 per student per program is requested but not required to participate. 3rd-5th grade students are eligible to sign up for Orchestra. If you have any questions regarding eligibility, please contact the instructor at efinley@sjusd.org

Beginning Orchestra

  • Mondays & Wednesdays: 2:30 - 3:20pm

  • Location: Room B11 (Mr. Finley’s Room)

Advanced Band

  • Mondays & Wednesdays: 3:30 - 4:20pm

Meet the Instructor

Eric Finley

Mr. Eric Finley started his musical training when he was eight years old. Since then, he has played with and served as concertmaster for many orchestras and ensembles in the Bay Area, including the Redwood Symphony, Nova Vista Symphony & the San Jose State University Symphony and Chamber Ensemble. He has also appeared as a guest violinist in early music ensembles throughout the Bay Area and the United States. Currently, Eric studies baroque violin with Carla Moore. He has also studied with Michael Sand, David Douglass, and Mary Lou Galen. Eric holds a BA in Environmental Studies from San Jose State University and an MA in Education from the University of San Francisco.
